
About the Regional Hub
WEST, CENTRAL, AND INDIAN OCEAN AFRICA
The Regional Hub West, Central, and Indian Ocean Africa is one of the five hubs of the Global Sanitation Graduate School. It is hosted by the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE) in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, and led by the Regional Director Dr. Anderson Harinaivo Andrianisa. The hub is managed by the 2iE team together with a core team consisting of representatives of key partners from the region. Furthermore, the regional hub embraces academic institutions and supporting partners from practice in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and Nigeria.

Our mission
The Regional Hub West, Central, and Indian Ocean Africa envisions a region in which academic and capacity-building institutions collaborate with multi-country practices to co-create sanitation resources, integrate interdisciplinarity and dynamism into study programs and empower professionals working in the field. The Hub aims to embrace diversity, equity, safety and inclusion in recognition of the complexity of sanitation challenges in the region and to lead to climate-responsive, resilient and livable habitats.

We apply a collaborative approach to developing and disseminating geopolitical context-specific knowledge on sanitation through university and postgraduate education, tailored professional training applying pedagogical innovations and to fostering applied, interdisciplinary, innovative and cutting-edge locally relevant research.
