About the Regional Hub

LATIN AMERICA

The Regional Hub Latin America is one of the five hubs of the Global Sanitation Graduate School. It is hosted by the Technological University of Uruguay (UTEC) in Montevideo, Uruguay, and led by the Regional Director Prof. Hector Garcia. The hub is managed by the UTEC team together with a core team consisting of representatives of key partners from the region. Furthermore, the regional hub embraces academic institutions and supporting partners from practice from the majority of the Latin American countries.

Our mission

The Regional Hub Latin America envisions a region in which academic and capacity-building institutes collaborate with multi-country practices to co-create water and sanitation resources, mainstream interdisciplinarity and dynamism in the curriculum, and empower professionals working in the domain. The Hub aims to embrace diversity, equity, safety and inclusion in acknowledgement of the complexity of water, sanitation, and hygiene challenges in the region and lead to climate-responsive livable habitats.

We apply a collaborative approach to developing and disseminating geo-political context-specific knowledge on water, sanitation, and hygiene through graduate and post-graduate education, tailored professional training applying pedagogic innovations and to fostering applied, interdisciplinary, innovative cutting-edge locally relevant research.
