
About the Regional Hub
EAST AND SOUTHERN AFRICA
The Regional Hub East and Southern Africa is one of the five hubs of the Global Sanitation Graduate School. It is hosted by the National Water And Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) in Kampala, Uganda, and led by the Regional Director Dr. Rose Christine Kaggwa. The hub is managed by the NWSC team together with a core team consisting of representatives of key partners from the region. Furthermore, the regional hub embraces academic institutions and supporting partners from practice in Uganda, Kenya, South Africa, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ethiopia, and Tanzania.

Our mission
The Regional Hub East and Southern Africa envisions a region in which academic and capacity building institutions collaborate with multi-country practices to co-create locally relevant sanitation knowledge, mainstream interdisciplinarity, sustainability and dynamism in the curriculum, and to empower professionals working in the domain. The hub aims to embrace diversity, equity, safety and inclusion in acknowledgement of the complexity of sanitation challenges in the region and lead to climate-responsive, resilient and livable habitats.

We apply a collaborative approach to developing and disseminating geo-political context-specific knowledge on sanitation through graduate, post-graduate education and research, tailored professional training applying pedagogic innovations and to fostering applied, interdisciplinary, innovative cutting-edge locally relevant research.
