Mzuzu UniversityThe Master of Science in Sanitation program is a postgraduate course aimed at addressing global sanitation challenges, with a special focus on developing countries like Malawi.It was aligned to MSc in Sanitation offered by IHE of Netherlands and is part of a global network, the Global Sanitation Graduate School (GSGS). Professionals are trained in sanitation hence offering expertise in technical, socio-economic, and governance aspects. The program prepares graduates to design, manage, and research sanitation systems, particularly in urban, peri-urban, and informal settlements. The curriculum has courses such as Urban Drainage and Sewerage, Faecal Sludge and Septage Management, and Wastewater Treatment Plants Design, ensuring graduates have the skills needed to offer innovative solutions for safely managed sanitation. The program is offered through flexible modes, including in class facilitation and online options. Its aim is to produce experts capable of tackling sanitation issues at local, national, and global levels, with an emphasis on sustainable development.
