Achieving the SDGs in sanitation in sub-Saharan Africa will require highly qualified human resources to bring about the required change and innovation in both management and technology. This goal can only be achieved if fundamental pillars such as training and research reflect the reality of the sector and are adapted to the needs of stakeholders. This proposed Master’s degree in Sanitation is an excellence training programme that integrates technical, managerial and communication aspects equitably into the learner’s range of knowledge. The themes are critically addressed with a view to safe and sustainable sanitation solutions and link sanitation practices and public health, sanitation systems and services, treatment processes and technologies including the basics of computer science and programming, Algorithms and Artificial Intelligence, as well as sanitation governance, sanitation financing, circular economy, gender and social inclusion
