The programme has a Master of Science level with professional orientation in the sanitation field. It is dedicated to target immediate needs and deliver master qualifications in sanitation. it aims to attract talented and ambitious mid-career professionals working in public health, community health and development, water supply and sewerage companies, municipal assemblies, government ministries, non-governmental organizations and consulting companies. It is an inclusive academic programme but oriented to practice and it is delivered in 24 months. The program is a demand driven, with graduates acquiring qualifications required to make impact in the sanitation sector. These are gained through taught and research topics and field assignments. The programme outcomes respond to the expectations of needed professional sanitation expertise. Successful graduates are expected to have sanitation knowledge and capacity that they will apply to develop, plan, implement, design and promote behaviour change in sanitation practices to develop sanitation and conduct practice-oriented field research independently or in multidisciplinary; they will have a range of options and alternatives for sanitation solutions in under sanitation for all by 2030. They will critically analyse and evaluate technological, social economic, cultural, governance and public health dilemmas and their connectedness to the achievement of sustainable development goals (3 and 6) and to the Malawi vision 2063.
