M.Sc in Sanitation

Mulungushi University

The M.Sc Sanitation is a programme that is focused on non-sewered sanitation. Sanitation refers to public health conditions related to clean drinking water and adequate treatment and disposal of human, urine, human excreta and sewage. Sanitation is high on the global agenda: universal access to clean water and sanitation is one of seventeen goals (SDGs) that make up the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Postgraduate professional education is one of the key elements needed to achieve these goals, as it was recognized that water, in one way or another, is related to all the goals. Recent reports confirm that there is a lack of sanitation professionals in lower income countries, and that more (post)graduate sanitation training centers are needed to attain the SDGs.
