WQM program for water distribution networks (India)
Regular qualitative and quantitative measurements are needed to constantly monitor the quality of water from the various sources of supply and distribution networks. Water sampling draws a representative portion of a body of water to examine various characteristics. Laboratory process starts by precisely fixing what characteristics must be met by the water samples once they are collected and accordingly ready for analysis. Samples are taken and examined to determine essential physical, chemical, biological, or radiological parameters, according to the established criteria. The analysis requires special techniques and conditions. The effective implementation of analysis starts in the care taken to obtain the sample. Samples should be representative as much as possible, characterizing the entire sample, and taking necessary precautions to conserve or preserve water samples, which should undergo no changes from the time of collection until analysis. Sampling frequency must meet the regulations in force and should adjust to the specific situation. An appropriate sampling program will be established depending on the case in question and in observation of the pertinent legislation in force. Each criterion was considered to determine whether it is applicable and, if so, the information will either appear in the executive summary or referred to insofar documents where it is included.
