The influence of community behaviour on the incidence of diarrhoea (Indonesia)

Thesis summary

The government continuously focuses on how to make a barriers or prevention so that humans do not get diarrhoea. The government aims on educating clean and healthy living behaviour, building healthy latrines, and constructing septic tanks. The construction of unsafe septic tanks is one of the potential sources of contamination of groundwater. Polluted water will also indirectly contaminate the clean water of residents who use well water as a source of clean water and can cause diarrhoea. Diarrhoea is a major health problem in Indonesia with high morbidity and mortality rates. This study aims to determine the effect of community behaviour and the influence of application of septic tanks on the incidence of diarrheal disease. This research is analytic with a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study amounted to 110 respondents who were selected using the purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire to obtain information related to community behaviour and the incidence of diarrheal diseases in the community. Data were analysed using correlation and regression statistical analysis.
