The GSGS RH WCIOA engages with the DGAEUE on structuring projects in CWIS

As part of the implementation of activities of the Global Sanitation Graduate School Regional Hub West, Central and Indian Ocean Africa (GSGS RH WCIOA), a working meeting was held in Ouagadougou between the Hub team and the Directorate General for Wastewater and Excreta Sanitation (DGAEUE) of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Sanitation (MEEA) of Burkina Faso.

The Hub delegation, led by Professor Harinaivo Anderson Andrianisa, Director of the GSGS RH WCIOA, and Ms. Nadine Marie Isabelle Toni, Project Officer, met with Ms. Julienne Tiendrebeogo, Director General of the DGAEUE, along with members of her department. The objective of the meeting was to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions around structuring projects for inclusive urban sanitation. Discussions focused on the need to align the Hub’s initiatives with national priorities, while exploring avenues for technical and scientific cooperation to support the development of sustainable and innovative solutions in the sector. Both teams agreed to continue technical discussions with a view to jointly designing an integrated inclusive sanitation project.

The Global Sanitation Graduate School Regional Hub for West, Central and Indian Ocean Africa (GSGS RH WCIOA) operates within the framework of the global GSGS program supported by the Gates Foundation. The Hub is coordinated by the 2iE Institute and brings together a network of academic and non-academic partners engaged in training, research, and innovation for sustainable and inclusive sanitation in West, Central, and Indian Ocean Africa.

Le GSGS RH WCIOA échange avec la DGAEUE sur des projets structurants en assainissement inclusif

Dans le cadre de la mise en œuvre des activités de la Global Sanitation Graduate School Regional Hub for West, Central and Indian Ocean Africa (GSGS RH WCIOA), une rencontre de travail s’est tenue le 5 novembre 2025 à Ouagadougou entre l’équipe du Hub, et la Direction Générale de l’Assainissement des Eaux Usées et Excreta (DGAEUE) du Ministère de l’Environnement, de l’Eau et de l’Assainissement (MEEA) du Burkina Faso.

La délégation du Hub, menée par le Professeur Harinaivo Anderson ANDRIANISA, Directeur du GSGS RH WCIOA, et de Mme Nadine Marie Isabelle TONI, chargée de projet, a échangé avec Mme Julienne TIENDREBEOGO, Directrice Générale de la DGAEUE ainsi qu’avec les membres de sa direction. Cette rencontre avait pour objectif de renforcer la collaboration entre les deux institutions autour de projets structurants pour l’assainissement urbain inclusiLes échanges ont porté sur la nécessité d’aligner les initiatives du Hub avec les priorités nationales, tout en explorant des pistes de coopération technique et scientifique pour appuyer le développement de solutions durables et innovantes dans le secteur. Les deux équipes ont convenu de poursuivre les discussions techniques en vue de la co-construction d’un projet intégré en assainissement inclusif.

Pour rappel, le Global Sanitation Graduate School Regional Hub for West, Central and Indian Ocean Africa (GSGS RH WCIOA) s’inscrit dans le cadre du programme mondial GSGS soutenu par la Fondation Gates. Ce hub est coordonné par l’Institut 2iE et fédère un réseau de partenaires académiques et non académiques engagés dans la formation, la recherche et l’innovation pour un assainissement durable et inclusif en Afrique de l’Ouest, du Centre et de l’Océan Indien.
