Solid waste management in Bangui (Burkina Faso)
The objective of this study is to contribute to the improvement of solid waste management in the city of Bangui and thus propose better management for sustainable solutions. Field visits, guideline and semi-directs surveys were organized to make an inventory. Corrective actions and durable solutions were proposed for weak points thanks to the diagnosis established. In this document, an example of a project related to waste management was studied in order to understand the weaknesses in the waste management chain and propose sustainable solutions. This study also made it possible to analyze the failing links in this management chain, the reasons for their inefficiencies and the possible consequences in the city and on the population. It is clear that the situation in terms of waste management is still very often catastrophic and deserves special follow-up. Thus, the main results confirm the low resources allocated to their management, the inadequacy of the frameworks of the domain but also lack of effective mechanisms of their disposal which gradually degrade the image of this city by the accumulation of huge quantities of waste. These practices have so far been a source of pollution. Promotions of executives in the field, awareness campaigns on waste management, the proposal of an improved management plan are all corrective actions that correspond to the weaknesses of waste management in the city. The implementation of these actions will help limit the amount of waste landfilled and reduce the impact on the environment and the health of the population of Bangui
