Selection of a sewage management system based on settlement typology (Indonesia)
Lok Baintan area is located in Sungai Tabuk District, Banjar Regency. Not all settlements in the Lok Baintan area have a domestic wastewater management system, so it is necessary to build a system. This study aims to determine the conditions of settlements and communities in order to analyze the settlement typologies in the study area, and choose an alternative system from an economic point of view so that the incurred costs is comparable with benefits, considering that settlements in riverbank areas are generally inhabited by low-income people. Cost-benefit analysis can be used as an alternative selection method where the health and environmental benefits and costs of a system can be used as a basis for decision making so a system and treatment technology can be selected that are most appropriate with the conditions of each typology of settlements in the study area.
