Optimizing FSTP by implementation of scheduled faecal sludge emptying services (Indonesia)

Thesis summary

The province of Bali, has reached 95% for access to improved sanitation. The community already has a septic tank but has not carried out regular desludging every 3-5 years. This condition can pollute the residents’ groundwater and cause losses. Indonesia is estimated to suffer a loss of IDR 56 trillion or $4.2 billion per year due to poor sanitation quality. For this reason, the provincial government of Bali in collaboration with the Central Government and the Japanese Government organized the construction of the Denpasar Sewerage Development Project (DSDP). DSDP is a domestic wastewater pipeline network development project serving Denpasar City and Badung Regency. Until now, the centralized system service in Kuta District has only reached 36.2%. This study aims to analyze the feasibility of implementing scheduled faecal sludge emptying services (LLTT), the effect of LLTT implementation on FSTP performance with technoware, infoware, humanware and orgaware variables, analyze the LLTT implementation strategy in Kuta District.
