The Global Sanitation Graduate School (GSGS), the world’s largest SDG6 accelerator on postgraduate education in sanitation, has completed a regular update of its administration, and results are astonishing – since its establishment in 2017, the GSGS reached 4,067 students from 108 low- and middle-income countries. Under the GSGS framework, 55 universities are delivering master’s programs, diploma programs and short courses based on the curriculum developed at IHE Delft Institute for Water Education. So far 1,155 master’s students (from which 599 graduated), 345 diploma program students, and 2,567 short course participants embarked on the sanitation curriculum, from which 42% are women. Since recently, our members are clustered in five regional hubs and headquarters in the Netherlands, while also non-academic institutions are encouraged to join and support our efforts in educating champions in developing and implementing sanitation. Being global and operating regionally will further increase our impact and efforts in enabling people to leave healthy and productive life.
