Thesis summary

One of the efforts to improve the welfare of the informal slums community is a visual improvement project on informal slum settlements. In Jodipan, Ksatrian Village, the results of the visual improvement in the village last for a long time and provide added value in the form of making the village a tourist destination. This allows for increased access to sanitation. A study was conducted to see the significance of the impact of visual improvement on the sanitation behavior of the people of Kampung Pelangi 200, and then compared the two study sites with the aim of analyzing the factors that differentiate the impact of the visual improvement project in the two locations and what is needed to improve access to sanitation. The preliminary research was carried out by making and testing the validity and reliability of the questionnaire. Then, the interview data were processed using a quantitative approach (correlation coefficient and analyzed using pathway analysis with Rstudio) and a qualitative approach (conventional content analysis with NVIVO).
