GSGS launches East Asia Regional Hub in Hong Kong
The Global Sanitation Graduate School (GSGS), in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, is proud to announce the establishment of the GSGS Regional Hub East Asia, headquartered in Hong Kong.
The new hub, supported by Director of Environmental Protection, Dr. Samuel Chui, aims to advance knowledge and education in sanitary engineering and sanitation throughout East Asia. It will also facilitate collaboration with other GSGS regional hubs and promote funding opportunities arising from East Asia.
Prof. Brdjanovic, GSGS Director, stated:“Expansion of the GSGS to East Asia via a stronghold in Hong Kong is an important milestone for GSGS – it will not only facilitate dissemination of knowledge on sanitation to one of the most populated regions on the planet but will also make use of regional funding to cross-fertilize other regional hubs.”
Dr. Samuel Chui, Director of Environmental Protection, added: ” The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government will set up a B&R Sustainable Green Development Training Centre next year to cultivate international environmental protection talent. The centre will serve as a base to connect the HKSAR with the international sustainable green development co-operation network, creating an environment that promotes technological exchange and outcome transfer for B&R counterparts. We are excited to collaborate with GSGS to establish the Regional Hub East Asia in Hong Kong, which will serve as a regional centre for cutting-edge research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building in sanitation. Our goal is to empower professionals and students across East Asia to address pressing sanitation challenges effectively.”
The first advanced postgraduate courses at the Hong Kong hub are planned for early 2026, offering opportunities for students and professionals to gain advanced training in sanitation and environmental protection from the world’s leading experts.
