Economic evaluation and pollution load analysis of sewage in Greater Bandung (Indonesia)

The Greater Bandung Area (GBA) is a metropolitan area consist of Bandung City, Cimahi City, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, and a small part of Sumedang Regency. According to the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (2017), domestic waste water contributes around 68% of the pollution on Citarum River, making Citarum River one of the most polluted river in the entire world. The degradation of environment quality can cause a lot of health issues and other financial problem for the people that lived there. This study aims to identify the sanitation condition of the community and to calculate the domestic wastewater pollution generated and discharged into environment, analyze and estimate the economic impact for the people in Greater Bandung Area caused by domestic wastewater pollution, identify and analyze the critical issues of domestic wastewater management in Greater Bandung Area to develop a strategy to manage the domestic wastewater, raise the awareness of the government, stakeholders and also the people in Greater Bandung Area to take more responsibilities of the domestic wastewater pollution and management to create environment sustainability in Greater Bandung Area.
