Business model development of scheduled desludging services (Indonesia)

Safely managed sanitation target of 15% by 2024 stated in the national planning document, will be our big challenge. Sanitation services using on- site system still has a dominant proportion compared to a centralized system. One of the strategies that can ensure the achievement of safely managed sanitation targets at on-site system is the scheduled desludging service (LLTT). There are some differences found in terms of technical and non- technical implementation aspects if it operated by different institutional form, they are local’s work unit (UPTD) and local/regional’s own enterprises (BUMD). The implementation of scheduled sludging service is inseparable from several indicators that affect its business model, based on the results of a literature review, they are including operating patterns, desludging and transportation facilities, treatment facilities, regulations, institutions, human resources capabilities, promotions, service quality, environmental impact, performance appraisal, management systems, funding, financial allocations, customer participation, partnerships, and stakeholders.
