A study on integration of sanitation planning tools in the sanitation planning process (Thailand)
This thesis focused on how these tools were applied and implemented in the setting of Tha Klong City, also how the actual planning process in this city was carried out to understand the implication on the sanitation planning process. A case study was conducted where focus group discussions and interviews were used to collect primary data. Community-Led Urban Environmental Sanitation and Sanitation 21 were used to analyse the data in order to understand the overall planning process in the municipality. The result suggested that though Situational Assessment Tool (SAT) and Financial and Technological Assessment Tool (FAT) assessments did provide sufficient data to prepare for FSM implementation, they did not materialize in the projects planned. Furthermore, they were not embedded in the policies of Tha Klong. It was recommended that these two tools should be integrated into the sanitation planning process of Tha Klong City, in addition to some suggested activities that would improve the municipality’s sanitation planning process in the future.
