A new partnership to strengthen sanitation skills in Africa: AfWASA and GSGS RH WCIOA join forces

News

A new step has been taken in the regional drive to strengthen capacity for inclusive sanitation. The African Water and Sanitation Association (AfWASA) and the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE) have signed a partnership agreement within the framework of the Global Sanitation Graduate School Regional Hub for West, Central and Indian Ocean Africa (GSGS RH WCIOA).

The agreement establishes a structuring link between universities and professional stakeholders in the sector. Specifically, it will allow 300 alumni of the GSGS RH WCIOA program to become members of AfWASA for a period of two years, with privileged access to its exchange platforms, specialized groups, and its pan-African professional network. This membership will offer graduates a unique opening to the field, facilitating their professional integration, networking, and participation in continuing education courses offered by AfWASA at preferential rates.

By joining forces, 2iE and AfWASA intend to strengthen the technical and managerial skills of sanitation professionals, thereby contributing to the creation of a regional talent pool of executives capable of designing and implementing sustainable solutions to the challenges of the health crisis on the continent. This partnership is fully in line with the vision of the GSGS RH WCIOA, which is not limited to training experts, but aims to promote their professional integration and continuous learning through strong links with the operational sector.
